Bernice A. Whittle, 98, of Streetsboro, Ohio, and formerly of Payson, died Feb. 5, 2013. She was born May 19, 1914 in Wellsville, Ohio to Orlando and Mary Elizabeth (Allison) Dick.
She and her husband retired to Payson between 1977 and 2004 where she was active in the Payson Lioness and Payson Hopes Auxiliary. She loved Payson and all of her friends there, returning to Portage County in 2004 for health reasons.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Hays of Shalersville, Ohio and Gwynne Soboslay of Streetsboro, Ohio; grandchildren, Brian Hays, Heather Hays and Patricia Outcalt; great-grandchildren, Paul (Renee) Hays, Heather L. Hays and Eric (Adrianne) Hays; eight great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family and old friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Arthur C. Whittle; her parents; sisters, Pauline Turley, Florence Ward, Dorothy McFaul and Dolores Casper; and brothers, Clarence and Alvin Dick.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel.
