Obituary for Janice Arlene Palmer

Janice Arlene Palmer, 66, of Tonto Basin, passed away May 5, 2014 from heart failure.  
She was born Nov. 6, 1947 to John J. and Maxine Markley in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
She loved camping and being with her family and many friends.  
Jan never turned away someone in need and was a mother to more than her own. Jan was the former owner of Punkin Center West, Punkin Center Lodge/Bar and Cactus Flats and was also a real estate broker.  
Survivors include stepdaughter Vicki Romanek (Don) and sons Rob Palmer (Christie) and Fred Palmer, sisters Michelle Markley and Elaine Vick (Harlan) and brothers John J. Markley Jr. (Diana), David Markley (Kelly), Alan Markley (Karen) and Rick Markley. Jan had 10 grandchildren that were her pride and joy: Eryn Sikich (Wesley), Robert McKean (Chanel), Leah McKean, Dirk VanDerMeer, Rebecca Diaz, Eddie Diaz, Krystal Romanek, Melissa Gillson (Brent), James Martin and Thomas Russo. She was very proud of her seven great-grandchildren, Ryland, Gavyn, Adriana, Olivia, Brooke, Brody and one on the way. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, son Eddie Palmer, stepdaughter Valarie McKean and nephew John J. Markley III.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 17 at Cactus Flats, Tonto Basin.
