Frank Hansen, 67, went to be with his Lord peacefully with family by his side on Jan. 29, 2013.
Born on March 7, 1945, in Copenhagen, Denmark, Frank immigrated to Canada in 1956. After serving in the Canadian Army for three years, he started his life-long passion and service as a firefighter/paramedic in 1967. Becoming one of the first paramedics in Calgary; Mr. Hansen served the Calgary Fire Department for more than six years.
Mr. Hansen started the Fire/EMS system in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He also served in the Arctic and the Yukon. Mr. Hansen found his final service in the Payson area in 1985 where he was a firefighter and chief.
He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Remembered for his wit, generosity and kindness to others, he was a loving husband, proud father, and friend to many.
Mr. Hansen is survived by his loving wife, Lorna Hansen; brother, Henning; two daughters, Kim and Canyse; three sons, Mark (Rochelle), Michael (Alicia) and Andy; and five grandchildren, Steven, Justice, Landon, Brayden and Alyssa Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Erik; brother, Michael; and son, Dan.
There will be an open house from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 10 to honor his memory and celebrate his life at 302 S. Oso Dorado Drive, Payson.
Donations may be made to the Houston Mesa Fire District where he served as chief for more than seven years.
