Obituary for Dorothy Louise Roth

Dorothy Louise Roth was born on Jan. 7, 1924 in Natrona, Pa. to Leonard and Martha Wygonik. She was baptized, raised Catholic, and graduated from Mount Carmel High School with honors.
She worked in her family’s business, The Sandwich Shop, in Wyandotte, Mich. during World War II. After her parents sold the business, she worked in the accounting department at Great Lakes Engineering. In 1953, she moved to Phoenix, Ariz. and worked in Farm Fresh’s accounting department. She met her future husband, Virgil Roth, through one of her co-workers.
Virgil and Dorothy were married on Aug. 28, 1954, at Saint Agnes Catholic Church. After their marriage, she chose to become a homemaker and continued to be involved with the Catholic Daughters of America.
The couple moved to Payson in 1977, where Dorothy attended Saint Philips Catholic Church; she was active in forming the Mystical Rose Sodality and building up the church library. She eventually joined the Payson Art League and then the Payson Area Writers.
“No matter what she did, she used her God-given artistic talents. She liked to sit at her kitchen table and write poems and stories; it gave her great joy to put words together in a creative manner.
“Our family feels blessed to have shared in her life and upon her passing on Jan. 24, 2013, we know that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” writes her family.
Mrs. Roth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her niece, Annette. She is survived by her daughter, Lenore (Michael) White; grandchildren: Heather (Danny) Ayers, Zachary Horsley, Joshua Horsley, Seth Horsley, Elizabeth White, April White; her sister, Mercedes Hudenko; niece, Carol (Ed) Duda; and her nephew Marty (Sandy) Hudenko.
A graveside gathering will be held at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4. Memorial donations in Mrs. Roth’s name may be deposited at Wells Fargo Bank, Account: FBO Dorothy Roth. The gifts will be used to defray the medical costs which were incurred.
