Matthew Sean Simper passed away Sept. 8, 2013. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on Feb. 29, 1992.
He moved to Payson in 2005, where he attended Rim Country Middle School and Payson High School.
Mr. Simper was an extraordinary human being who loved his family more than anything. He was very outgoing and would put others before himself. He looked for the positive in any situation and strived for excellence. He was a hard-working young man, but never forgot to make time for family and friends. He enjoyed many activities including fishing at the local area lakes, chilling with friends, listening to music, lifting weights, and playing sports, especially football. Mr. Simper was a member of Mountain Bible Church.
He is survived by his father, Ron (Pauline) Simper of Payson; his mother, Anita (Lon) Ashmead of Utah; siblings, Brandy Hemstreet of Utah; Tiffany (Daniel) Taft of Flagstaff; Nicole Simper of Mesa; and Jerid Ashmead of Utah. He was preceded in death by his sister, Arika Simper. He had an extended family with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank everyone who attended the candlelight vigil in remembrance of Matthew. The family would also like to invite Matthew’s family and friends to a Memorial Service to be held at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 901 S. Westerly Road, at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Roosevelt Lake.
An account has been set up at Wells Fargo in his name, if anyone would like to donate. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.messinger mortuary.com.
