Robert “Bob” John Fraher of Payson, Ariz. passed away peacefully and was received in God’s grace on Sept. 9, 2013. He was born in Hinsdale, Ill. on Sept. 11, 1926.
He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served his country for two years. Most of his time was spent on the USS Epping Forest where he worked as a radio man.
In 1955 he met the love of his life, Barbara, and was married for 54 years. He and Barbara later moved to Phoenix, Ariz. where they raised their three children. They felt their life was incomplete, so in 1973 they adopted two more beautiful children. In 2000 Bob and Barbara moved to Payson, Ariz. They spent the autumn of their lives enjoying the beautiful high country pines and their family and friends.
Mr. Fraher will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor as he always loved to crack a joke. He loved to perform and would be more than happy to sing you a song by Al Jolson. Many family and friends will tell you that he made the world’s best ice cream float! But more than anything, he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and he had a heart of gold.
Mr. Fraher was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his sister, Jean Nordberg; and his grandson, Gilbert Cordova. He is survived by his children Kathy, Craig (Carollea), Colleen (Dave), Shane and Alisha. He has nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He will be missed by all his family and friends, but we have comfort in knowing that he is now together forever with Barbara in the arms of his heavenly father.
