What my mom has given to us all. When you are watching the world fly by at 75 mph, you are missing more than you think. Pull out of the fast lane, put down the remote, get off the couch, walk off the beaten path, and just take a close look at what we are surrounded by. This world may not be much at 75 mph, but when you stop and take it in, it will blow your mind what we miss every day. Life is never a curse to be endured, it is a gift to be enjoyed and explored. When it is over and you slide into the end, with your hair blown out of whack, sunburned face, and the dirt from the road on your lips, you will know how she lived. When all was done, and we listened close and she crossed over, we can hear her say, “Woo hoo! What a ride!” Great job, Mom. You will be greatly missed by us all.
Funeral mass 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, continued in hall with celebration of life at the Catholic Church of the Holy Nativity, 1414 N. Easy Street, Payson.

Obituary for Roger Annabel

Roger Annabel was born Feb. 15, 1954 in Flint, Mich. He passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Due to his mother’s medical issues, before he was 10 years old Roger became a foster child.
At 18 he joined the Marines and shipped off for his tour of duty in Vietnam. After his tour he lived in Hawaii for 10 years, then moved to Arizona.
In 1984 he met the love of his life, Darla, at Mickey’s Restaurant in east Mesa.
Roger and Darla both worked for Perkins Restaurants in the Valley. Darla logged 17 years with them and Roger 15. Around the year 2000 they learned that the Perkins restaurant chain was closing down, so they needed to plan their next move. Payson had always been their getaway retreat … so they decided to come up to Payson to look for a restaurant to purchase. As a result, they purchased the Crosswinds Restaurant at the Payson Airport.
In 2005, Roger and Darla also purchased the Knotty Pine Restaurant and had daughter Valerie and her husband Jeremy move to Payson to help them run the two restaurants.
Roger loved the fact that in Payson you could still do a deal on a handshake while looking someone straight in the eye. That desire and focus on honesty and integrity was very important to Roger.
Roger and his wife Darla were former members of the original Optimist club of Payson. They furnished food for an untold number of events and special needs in town. From turkeys handed out during the holidays, special food assistance for local events and much more. His daughter Valerie says, “He was always helping out someone.” Much of that was done quietly behind the scenes with no need for acknowledgment or fanfare. It was just simply the kind of guy Roger was.
Roger started life with almost no family, but over the years his family became huge, including all of Rim Country.
Roger is survived by his wife, Darla Annabel; son, Joseph Rogers (wife June); and daughter, Valerie Bolin (husband Jeremy); grandchildren Ross and Joselyn Rogers, and Elora, William, David, Dillon and Natalie Bolin; mother-in-law, Emily Gore; and brother-in-law, Jay Wisemon.
All are invited to a celebration of Roger’s life that will be held at 5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 19 in the reception hall at Messinger Payson Funeral Home. The gathering will be informal, as that is how Roger would have wanted it (blue jeans and boots recommended).

Obituary for Larry Olson

Larry Olson was born Sept. 14, 1952. He always had a love for fishing. There was not a day that he did not wish that he was dropping a line in the water. Now, he gets to fish every day in the most epic fishing hole ever. Larry passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015. He had a luster for life.
He was always willing to help a friend or neighbor without expecting anything in return. On any given day you would see Larry mowing somebody’s lawn or just giving a helping hand. He was never known to be one that liked being inside.
One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his family outdoors. He loved wood cutting, camping and teaching his kids and grandchildren how to fish. He would always come back telling you that he caught “The BIG ONE” that was 18 inches; in actuality it was a minnow.
Larry was a world renowned “knowologist.” If you asked a question and he wasn’t sure of the answer, his reply would be, “Let me tell you a story about Uncle Jed.” Larry was full of “Uncle Jed” stories. The lingo that was often heard in these stories came straight out of “Larry’s Factionary.” If you happened to see Larry out and about, you better not be in a hurry. He had the gift of gab for sure. He was a social butterfly that even his wife couldn’t reel him in.
He is leaving behind “his angel,” Marcia Olson of 42 years. They have three amazing children, Christopher, Mandie and Elizabeth; and one adopted son, Jeremy. They have one grandson, Zacharie and fiancée Missie; two granddaughters, Maleka and Dakota; and one great-grandson, Ethan.
He loved singing Christmas carols, eating his sweets, enjoying a 7-N-7, beer and his breathing treatments.
Come join the family in celebrating the life of Larry on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015. The celebration will begin at 2 p.m. at their home. For the address, please call Marcia at (928) 978-2257.
“Just another day in paradise.”
