Obituary for Glenna Marie Colbert

Glenna Marie Colbert, age 90, passed away peacefully on Aug. 27, 2014 in Payson. She was born Jan. 7, 1924 in Brown, Fayette County, West Virginia to the late Jessie and Gertrude (Moore) Maxwell and was the only child of theirs to live to adulthood.
Glenna graduated from high school in Clarksburg, W.V. She went on to serve our country honorably in the United States Army Air Corps. While attending nursing school in Washington, D. C., she met John Randolph Colbert on a blind date in March, 1948. After several months of courtship, Glenna proposed to John and the couple was married on Christmas Day, 1948. Their marriage lasted 65 wonderful years in which it was rare to see one without the other.
Along with John, Glenna enjoyed traveling. They lived in Virginia and California before making Arizona their home 25 years ago. Glenna thoroughly enjoyed reading, especially mysteries.
Besides John, Glenna is survived by her son, John Wesley Maxwell Colbert; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. All services will be private.
